>Several Things I Discovered about Obama

Obama is such a down-to-earth guy and this list of 50 Facts You Might Not Know has some very interesting things in it. I’m particularly impressed with these:

  • He collects Spider-Man and Conan the Barbarian comics
  • He has read every Harry Potter book
  • He can speak Spanish
  • His favourite book is Moby Dick
  • His favourite films are Casablanca and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
  • He enjoys Scrabble and poker
  • He doesn’t drink coffee (that’s how us REAL outcasts roll these days)
  • He uses a Mac laptop
  • His favourite TV dramas are Mash and The Wire
  • His favourite artist is Picasso

Some interesting stuff, no? I kept the British spelling in tact form the original article.

>The Change is Already Underway

I don’t know if any other Presiden-elect has had a website where they outline the transition and new policies, some of which are already being implemented, Barack has and you can see it all at:

It’s just fantastic that he’s continuing to use technology to communicate with Americans, as he did so well in his campaigning.

Did you know that federal hiring policies have nothing that protects applicants from discrimination based on sexually orientation? Well they don’t, or didn’t until now. For the first time ever, Obama will be adding language to do just that.

It’s also great to see him following through on the Health Care platform he campaigned under and the hard line policy of exiting Iraq. From the site:

“Immediately upon taking office, Obama will give his Secretary of Defense and military commanders a new mission in Iraq: ending the war….Military experts believe we can safely redeploy combat brigades from Iraq at a pace of 1 to 2 brigades a month that would remove them in 16 months”

Open and direct communication through the Internet is a great first step towards a new America.

>We Came Together for Real Change

Reason and logic win out and our nation moves towards much-needed
progress. I am so relieved and thankful that i can look forward to the
next four years with hope.

Congratulations, sir, on winning a historic campaign.
