>Who’s really going to bat for working class Americans?

04 Sep

>Yes, McCain will reduce taxes overall. However, what’s ridiculous is that he’ll barely reduce taxes at all for the 60% of Americans that make under $66,355, you know the working class people that McCain purports to be helping; at the same time reducing taxes significantly for anyone making over $160,972!! And if you make over $2.87 Million, you’ll really see some relief. Not that you needed it.

This is in stark contrast to Obama’s plan to significantly reduce taxes on those same middle Americans (the 60%) and sharply increasing taxation on anyone making over $604,403. (Edit: bottom threshhold corrected.)

This begs the question: Who’s really going to bat for working class Americans?

“McCain’s tax plan…is even more regressive than Bush’s. Obama and McCain may be unique candidates in any number of respects, but at the end of the day the defining fact of politics in America remains that we have one party whose fiscal policies primarily benefit the rich and one whose fiscal policies primarily benefit the working class.
