>From Fark: “Bet you didn’t know Web 2.0™ was a trademark? Neither did a lot of people until the cease-and-desist letters started showing up”
In case you weren’t already aware, Web 2.0 is the term commonly used to refer to the latest round of advances in online information gathering and sharing, specifically the integration of RSS, social networking and tagging of information among other things. Many many people and companies have been using the term and writing about it for over a year without any idea it was trademarked. The fact that someone was allowed to term something as generic as Web 2.0 indicates another serious flaw in our attitudes towards “Intellectual Property.”
