>We3 We3 We3 We3 We3 We3

>

One of the things I love most about comics is finding stories that sound
really dumb or ridiculous but that are executed so well that they are
fantasticly brilliant. We3 is one of those books, well it may not be as
imaginative as Miracleman or as poetic as Swamp Thing but it is
certainly a good comic. And you wouldn’t think one about a cat, a
rabbit and a dog who are put in weapon suits by the government to
assassinate terrorists would be. Of course it is written by Grant
Morrison so you can expect it to be better than most on the shelf.

The book is great as an action and it appeals to pathos very well too.
In fact I was almost in tears in certain parts but I do have a huge soft
spot for the little furry ones. By the end I was furious at the
injustice of a government experiment that never existed.

How’s that for fiction?

>The Conversion is Complete

>

The era of CD hoarding is over. I sold the last of my CDs this weekend and bought a Black 60GB iPod. I am free of the physical constraints of a medium-sized music collection. It’s all fits into my pocket now, along with all those downloaded clips, old after school specials (thanks, Dave and Archive.org) and all 9,215 of my pictures. I grew up in the digital era and it’s still amazing to me.

The rest of everyone else can’t be too far behind.

>Thar’s iPods in them tharr CDs!

>

No, there aren’t CD-style iPods coming out. Rather, here one can trade their CDs in towards any iPod. I called these folks and inquired about the whole thing. It seems to be on the up-and-up. The only review I could find, however, from someone who actually tried it said that of the 425 discs he sent in, only 53 were sellable and of good quality (separate criteria). So this got me thinking: I used to sell music to a CD Warehouse in SW Florida for like $3-$4 per disc. I could get a significantly bigger value doing that. So off Chelsiar and I went.

2 stores and the same amount of hours later we returned home with $150 and no CDs. Not quite the outcome my dollar-crossed eyes envisioned. So if I were to do this again knowing what I know now (and learning that all of my CDs were considered be in excellent condition) I would just mail them off for the $12 to Millenium Music and take my chances.

Oh, and by the way, the biggest part of all of this was missed somehow: we’ve gone digital totally with our music. No more heaps of plastic discs to weigh us down (except the 3.5″ drive in my computer). It really wasn’t that difficult or long of a decision to make.

Now, anyone wanna buy a decorative 300 CD rack?
