This one’s for you, baby. Lots of redundant PS tricks but some funny ones for sure.

Since this site’s URL was inspired by noir and pulp it’s only appropriate that I recommend some of the stuff. Right now it’s Ed Brubaker‘s Sleeper. A pulpy pulp comic of noirish beauty (ok well, it’s really more noir). I started the first issue tonight just to see what all the fuss was about and I couldn’t put this down until I had finished the whole first arc. It’s now four in the morning. Mr. Phillips’ art, when not rushed as it clearly is at times, is beautiful, high-contrast…appropriateness.

After reading an interview with Brubaker, turns out he’s coming from great influences like Daniel Clowes and Chris Ware. This is exactly the kind of guy you want writing your comics.

>Even the Feds Hate IE

FINALLY. The Department of Homeland Security has released an official statement (link to friend’s blog, can’t find official release) telling consumers NOT to use Internet Explorer. Told you. No matter, I am a rabid Opera fan, ready to devour any other browser in a debate of who is best. Nevermind that it doesn’t conform to the W3C standards completely, it is bar none the easiest to use browser. Period. Firefox doesn’t even do all the stuff Opera does (and does so well). So maybe finally all of those people whose computers I support will STOP USING THE DAMNED THING LIKE I TOLD THEM TO.

>King Arthur

Finally. An awesome summer movie. An awesome movie period. Don’t be fooled by the inappropriate trailer and ads, it’s an intelligent and (for lack of a better word) gripping film. It’s been a while since I’ve been able to say “That movie was right up my alley.” I just spent an hour photoshopping (one ‘p’ or two?) one of the desktops from the official site. If you’d like a copy of the Guinevere wallpaper without all the garbage “from the producers of…” junk click here.

Finally got to see The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra. It was actually pretty good. Laugh-out-loud funny.

On a slightly related note, Hollywood video now lets you rent any movie for $1 if you say that you will and do bring it back the next day. Dealaroony.

Saw Spiderman 2. Hated it. Improved action, worse everything else.

Saw these comics. Loved ’em. Would have rather watched these played out on the big screen. Refresh the page for more.
